The challenge
This illustrative scenario assumes a dispatch team receives 200+ orders a day across email, phone, and customer portals. Each order is manually re-keyed into a transportation management system, then again into billing.
The model assumes triple data entry consumes four full-time roles' worth of capacity and causes wrong addresses, missed accessorials, and invoicing disputes that can delay payment.
The solution
A proposed intake pipeline in n8n reads orders from email, customer portals, and EDI feeds, validates them against business rules, and writes clean records to the TMS automatically.
In the proposed design, ambiguous orders route to a human review queue in Slack with one-click approval. Billing data flows from the TMS to QuickBooks without re-entry, and a dashboard tracks intake volume and error rates.
